Choose a method worth keeping

  • A Skill gives an agent a repeatable way to do a particular job: research a question, prepare a draft, check an output or explain a process. Choose one method you can describe and test.
  • For example, your weekly-update method might require current records, name unresolved items, separate facts from suggestions and finish with the next action. Keep the instructions specific enough that another agent can use them.

Describe it in Builder

  • Open the Skill in Builder. Say what the method is for, which inputs it needs and what should appear in the result. Add examples of a useful output and cases where the agent should ask for more information.
  • Builder helps shape the supported Skill content. A Skill contains the method; the model, agent and authorized tools still determine which actions can run.

Give the method reliable sources

  • Use source material you own or have permission to use. Keep instructions clear about which reference takes priority and how the agent should handle missing or conflicting evidence.
  • Avoid filling the Skill with unrelated files. A smaller, current set of references is easier to test and maintain than an archive whose purpose is unclear.

Test it through a real agent

  • Attach the Skill to the agent that needs the method. Try a normal request, an incomplete input and a case outside the method’s scope. Review the actual result and any tools it used.
  • If the result misses a step, tell Builder what went wrong and try again. Test the full agent experience rather than assuming a well-written instruction guarantees the outcome.

Reuse without copying the work

  • Use the method in appropriate authorized agents. Keep its purpose and update responsibility clear, and check affected tasks when you change it.
  • A reusable Skill supports the working agent. If you offer customers a paid AI service, define the Agent’s job, access, support and eligible payment setup separately.
